National “Tell a Lie” day

Did you know that April 4th is known as national” Tell a Lie day” Pinocciothis day gives us permission to tell a lie within reason. There are times when telling lies may be acceptable such as buffing during a game of poker but being a liar generally isn’t seen as an admirable trait. Tell a Lie Day offers people a chance at pretending for a little while.

It is reported that the average person tells 1.65 lies a day, other reports suggest people tell significantly more than this. However 90% of these are reported to be “white lies!. A white lie is often described as a lie about a small or important matter that is told to avoid hurting someone.

At Lie Detector Ireland we deal on a day-to-day basis with the outcome of deception  – which in many situations can be devastating and extremely harmful. Lies can destroy trust – often a proven liar will never be believed even when speaking the truth. Polygraph testing is an effective way to establish is someone is being deceptive and equally allow a truthful person to clear their name.

However the idea of Tell a Lie day is not to hurt others but to have a little fun with deception, telling some harmless lie and see how people react. You may want to use this day as an opportunity to be creative and make up an outlandish or funny lie. It can also serve as a reminder of the importance of honesty and truth in everyday life.

However Tell a Lie day is balanced out by national “Honesty day ” which occurs 30th April, a day which encourages everyone to be truthful and open in all aspects of life. if you don’t want to tell any lies today, you could celebrate the day by watching a movie about liars – some great examples can be found here.
